Roles and responsibilities

1. Coordinate and manage the implementation of an effective safety awareness-training program on all vessels contracted to Angola Logistics 'Operations. This position will work closely with the  Marine Safety Advisors in all aspects of marine safety.
2. Preparation of all forward safety training, executing effectively the safety expectations of the company and ensuring compliance in the owner’s SMS.
3. Responsible for ensuring those vessels operate within and to high levels of Safety expectation and that, effective Operational safety expectations are being demonstrated throughout  Block 15 Logistics Operations.
4. Responsible for setting safety training objectives for Angolan national crewmembers and for mentoring and encouraging those employees to achieve standards of safety efficiency that will make each one capable of operating with confidence in a challenging environment.
5. Steward and provide quality KPIs that measure the effectiveness and implementation of a good and robust marine safety application.
6. Responsible for the implementation of an effective safety unction within all  Marine Logistic Vessels.
7. Taking the safety-learning objective directly to the crew onboard ships, working with them at their places of work, encouraging them in all aspects of the safety-related discipline, and developing their self-confidence in relation to safety-related issues.
8. Rolling out safety initiatives onboard all marine Logistics vessels.
9. Identifying operational shortcomings that have an impact on ongoing safe operations.
10. Recommending changes that will improve operational safety in the Marine logistics operation.
11. Developing and supporting shipboard safety meetings, helping the ship’s crews to structure regular safety meetings and recommending how effective structure and follow through can benefit safety onboard ship.
12. Onboard audits, hazard hunts, and vessel inspections.

Qualifications, Skills and Experiences

Education:

Marine officer qualifications or equivalent with HSE certification/qualification

 

Work experience

At least 3 years’ experience in a similar position 

 

Key competencies:

·         Basic knowledge of Audit

o   Know audit methodologies and how to perform gap analysis as well as closure recommendation (Only related to his functions and activities)

·         Good HSE culture and awareness-lead by example

o   Know-how to promote and lead HSE culture and awareness in his/her scope of responsibility

·         Basic Knowledge of HSE implementation

o   Able to adapt SONSURF HSE procedures across the whole organization

·         Basic knowledge of incident investigation

o   Know how to analyze and manage incidents (Reporting, event management, investigation, root cause analysis, closure and follow up)

·         Basic knowledge of oil and gas and marine

o   Know industry standards, operations and best practices, keep abreast of news, development and trends, actively represents SONSURF within the industry in relation with her ole and fosters beneficial networks

·         Work as a team player

o   Contribute to cross functional projects, is able to work as part of a remote team. Identify its contribution to the results of the team and department.
