Roles and responsibilities

Deputy Manning Manager

Duties & Responsibilities

You will be responsible for supporting the Manning Manager to man the Ship Managers’ vessels with competent and engaged Offshore personnel at optimized cost.

The Deputy Manning Manager is also responsible to support the Manning Manager in developing a manning agency providing competent and engaged Offshore personnel to other Affiliates.

In order to achieve this, you will:

  • Support the Manning Manager in defining and implementing the Manning strategy  and policy in line with BOURBON policy and guidelines, as well as international regulations & client requirements;
  • Develop and ensure implementation of Crewing and Manning processes, procedures and tools in area of concern;
  • Define, challenge and review Crewing budgets with keeping orientation to cost optimization;
  • Support the Manning Manager in the proposal and implementation of Compensation & Benefits policy;
  • Be responsible for management of medical/death & disability crew claims and/or insurance companies in area of concern;
  • Support  the Manning Manager in designing and conducting a career development policy and yearly training plan;
  • Supervise assessments (both on performance and competences) and promotions of Offshore personnel in area of concern;
  • Develop and update Seafarer contractual terms and conditions in area of concern;
  • Ensure good communication with Seafarers through vessels visits, seminars, induction and meetings;
  • Optimize organizational performance of crewing and manning teams in area of concern;
  • Ensure office teammates’ competences development and motivation;
  • Support the Manning Manager in preparation and follow-up of audits.


The Deputy Manning Manager is linked hierarchically to the Manning Manager.

Qualifications, Skills and Experiences

Your profile:

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent vocational education;
  • You have min 2 years of relevant experience as a Crewing Supervisor position in a multinational company performing operations linked with Crewing or in Maritime or Oil and Gas company;
  • Experience in managing teams and the fleet personnel;
    You have strong Legal / Regulatory knowledge and practice (flag state requirements, STWC, MLC, ILO, unions, etc.);
  • Well motivated and open to complex working;
  • You have proven managerial and organization skills;
  • You are proactive, dynamic and versatile; and you have good listening and communication and relationship building (motivator and coach) skills;
  • You are extremely organized and rigorous and you are able to prioritize matters and meet deadlines;
  • You must be willing to work independently and be comfortable working in a multi-cultural environment;
  • You have an excellent knowledge of MS Office/ Excel skills;
  • A perfect command of English is mandatory and knowledge of French language will be a plus.
